Cuba will switch to summer time on March 10, 2013
The country will move to daylight saving time together with USA and Canada.
Cuba's Electric Union (Unión Eléctrica) announced on 3 March that the country will move to daylight saving time (DST) at midnight between Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 March 2013.[1]
This is almost a month earlier than previously planned.
The new date is the same as in the United States. The Bahamas is another Caribbean country that follows the US schedule.
Update, 26 October 2026: Cuba has kept this schedule ever since: summer time from midnight on the second Sunday of March until the first Sunday of November, like the USA. In 2026 it began on 8 March 2026 and ends on 1 November 2026.[1] See also: Cuba moves to summer time on April 1, 2012.
